The VanNess Vagabonds

It's not the destination but the journey . . .

Top Five Reasons to Look Up:

1. You never know what you are going to get- One day it may be clear blue skies another may be clouds in the shape of dogs or dragons. Oh its raining- maybe you will spot a rainbow. It’s a cloudy night- maybe you will see the moonlight reflecting a cloud formation that you have never seen before. I love surprises and every time I look at the sky I find one.

2. We spend so much time looking ahead, running to our next destination. Or we are looking down- thinking about everything we have to do. We look left and right to see oncoming traffic, watch someone passing us. How often do you look up? Why does up never get any love?

3. The world is overwhelming at times. I sometimes get so consumed with my day-to-day stress that I don’t notice anything around me. When I get to that point- I look up. I look up and realize how small I am in the scheme of things. How someone snaking my parking spot doesn’t matter when there is so much more out there . . .the sun, the stars, why clouds form, why the moon is orbiting earth, that there may be life on one of those sparkly things in the sky so so so far away. When I think about these things that frustration from my parking spot being stolen seems so minuet and trivial. I clear my head, knowing that my life may seem huge and overwhelming, but in relation to everything out there in the universe it is pretty simple and easy. I mean I am not creating planets, magnetically pulling the ocean, creating land with molten lava, or anything. I love my life, why let it be taken away by trivial matters? Imagine the incredible things that are happening right now! Why let a parking spot consume my thoughts?

4. A bird may poo on your face and that is supposed to be really good luck!

5. Even if you don’t look up- look somewhere. Take one moment of the day to stop. Stop and think about what matters, don’t let the petty stuff take away your life. Don’t let the negative consume you so much you miss the beautiful things right in front, to the left, to the right, or above you. Just take one moment in time.

  1. Regarding number 4. Wait what?

Am I suppose to want it to happen?
Btw, it has (top of my head not face though) and I don’t feel none the luckier.

  2. Of course you want it to happen. . .it is really good luck.

I had it happen to me once- really embarrassing because I was with my boss at the time in my suit. The poo went gliding down my hair smashed on my shoulder and continued down my arm. Now that is luck! How many birds do you see poo that much? Not many. How many birds poo that much and it lands on a girl in a business suit talking to her boss . . .even less. I consider myself blessed by the poo gods.

By the way- Sorry to hear about your poo experience, but hey you didn’t get a face bomb right? Instantaneous luck.
